The Amarillo Railroad Museum, Inc. in partnership with the Missouri Pacific Historical Society brings you the finest, most accurate HO scale model of the classic ART steel reefer to ever be released! Featuring Kadee couplers, correct trucks, special roof, ends, and sides.

The first run of the 1951 version, the 32000 series which had Preco fans, is completely sold out. Our next run, the 33000 series which had Equipco fans, is expected in late October.

Did you know that although this is typicaly described as a reefer with a horizontal rib, there was no rib at all? The row of rivets actually attached the lower side panel to the upper side panel which overlapped the lower panel. For a whole car side, there were four panels, two upper and two lower.

Although the 32000 and 33000 series cars had different fans, this was not noticable on the exterior of most cars. The 32000 series had PRECO mechanical fans and the 33000 series had Equipco electric fans. On some 32000 series cars, there was either a round stencil or a metal plate on the left side of the side of the car just to the right of the grabs. This can be simulated with decals from a PFE reefers set (Microscale has a good set), or by adding the fan housing included it the kits. However, this was only to indicate the car had PRECO fans, and was not an actual location mark or fan pully housing as on PFE reefers.
Here's another new model that was added to our inventory in October 2008. It is the Pennsylvania Railroad X29 boxcar with patch panels along the side. Similar to our earlier version in the railway express scheme, this beauty is in an attractive Merchandise Service paint scheme that was applied in the mid-1950s for cars used in less-than-carload service. The band is white with a large shadowed keystone as was appropriate for the 1950s time period. This run was produced exclusively for the Amarillo Railroad Museum by Red Caboose
