Large Scale Modeling
Large Scale Modeling Is Fun!
Former Amarillo Railroad Museum member Bruce Siebold is now a "Big Dog" with the BNSF in Fort Worth! And not only is Bruce the new BMOC in Fort Worth, but his modeling is big, too! Real big! Check out his 1 1/2" to the foot scale modeling here! Keep in mind that the string of cars in front of his BNSF hopper is G Scale! Bruce has kept up with the ARM and is an enthusiastic supporter of our mission! Thanks, Bruce, for the new pictures! We sure wish your railroad was running around the ARM 12 acres!
Here is Bruce Siebold's most recent addition to his 1 1/2

Bruce Siebold, presently the Mechanical Manager for the BNSF Railway in Fort Worth, Texas, sent us these pictures of his most recent modeling efforts! The large hopper in the back is Bruce's 1 1/2" to the foot model! Looks like a brand new full sized hopper, doesn't it? Bruce pulls out all the stops when he builds a model! The train in front of it is G Scale - the cars are about six inches tall!
While he was at the Amarillo Railroad Museum, Bruce drew up what could be an interesting large-scale outdoor railroad. We'd be interested in talking to people in the Amarillo area who might want to explore this idea. We have the land. We need a good group of people who want to make this a reality. We're open to suggestions. The sky is the limit: G-scale, 1 1/2 inch scale, live steam/diesel, etc.

Here is a good shot of Bruce's BNSF 1 1/2

This shot shows Bruce's hopper very nicely! The basic construction is steel angle iron, sheet steel sides, and cast iron couplers, trucks, and wheels. Bruce did a great job! The pictures were taken at a BNSF Family Day in Fort Worth, Texas, September 22, 2006.
